Exchange students of the University of Music Würzburg

The Studierendenwerk Würzburg runs several student residences in Würzburg. For selected exchange students of the University of Music Würzburg there is a limited number of places in these student residences available. When applying for one of these places, you will have to pay attention to some specifics.

The Studierendenwerk Würzburg guarantees a reservation of a room in a student residence for selected exchange students of the University of Music Würzburg for 1 April or 1 October, provided that the student has sent a complete and correct online application together with a prepayment for deposit and rent(s) of €1,000.00 to the Studierendenwerk Würzburg by 15 January for the following summer semester and by 15 June for the following winter semester and that there are still rooms available.

Applications that are received or completed after the above mentioned dates are excluded from the guarantee. In this case, however, the Studierendenwerk Würzburg will still try to offer a room in a student residence.

You can rent a room in a student residence for the following periods:

1 October - 31 March of the following year (1 semester)
1 October - 30 September of the following year (2 semesters)
1 April - 31  March of the following year (2 semesters)
1 April - 30 September (1 semester)

If a language course is taken before starting studies at the University of Music Würzburg, a room in a student residence can usually also be rented for the following time periods:

1 September* - 31 March of the following year (1 semester)
1 September* - 30 September of the following year (2 semesters)
1 March* - 31 March of the following year ( 2 semesters)
1 March* - 30 September (1 semester)

* The first month is excluded from the guarantee, if the tenancy starts on 1 March or 1 September.

The rent is payable for the entire contract period, regardless of the duration of any grant and actual duration of the stay in the student residence. The fixed-term rental contracts of the Stu­dieren­den­werk can be terminated in writing with a two month notice for 31 March or 30 September. It is not possible to move rooms.

 

Step 1: Transfer prepayment and save proof of payment

Before applying for accommodation in a student residence online, you will have to transfer a prepayment for deposit and rent(s) of €1,000.00 to the Studierendenwerk Würzburg. You will have to bear any incurring bank charges. The difference between the actual deposit and rent(s) and the prepayment received is payable with the next month's rent.

Save a proof of your payment (scan of the completed transfer form, printout of the receipt or a screenshot from an online bank transfer, etc.) as pdf. The pdf must not be bigger than 850 kB. If the file has become too large when scanning, the file size can often be reduced by scanning it as black and white instead of colour and by reducing the resolution (to about 300 dpi). You will need the file in step 3.

 

Step 2: Scan and save your identity card/passport

Please scan your ID-card or passport and save as pdf. The pdf must not be bigger than 850 kB. If the file has become too large when scanning, the file size can often be reduced by scanning it as black and white instead of colour and by reducing the resolution (to about 300 dpi). You will need the file in step 3.

 

Step 3: Fill in online application

After that, go to:

and fill out the application for the student residence taking the following instructions into account:

Field "Wished types of housing"
You will have to make a choice here because of the software, but due to the guarantee of a room, your choice here cannot be taken into account.

Field "Wished student residences"
You will have to make a choice here because of the software, but due to the guarantee of a room, your choice here cannot be taken into account.

Field "Favoured move-in date"
You may only choose:
1 March (... 01.03.)
1 April (... 01.04.)
1 September (... 01.09)
1 October (... 01.10)
Due to the guarantee of a room, a different choice here cannot be taken into account. The first month is excluded from the guarantee, if the tenancy starts on 1 March or 1 September.

Field "Favoured term of rental contract ..."
You will have to make a choice here.

Field "Identity card / passport"

Field "Certificate of matriculation / letter of admission"

Field "Security code" (where applicable)
If there are problems with the security code, often the security code has been typed in wrong or the uploaded file from Step 1 or 2 is too big. The pdf must not be bigger than 850 kB.

 

Step 4: Confirm link

After you have sent the application, you will receive an email including a link, which has to be confirmed within 7 days after we have sent it. Only if you confirm this link on time, your application will be registered in our system.

If you did not receive an email, also check your spam filter and make sure that your mailbox is not full. It can also be possible that you have given a wrong email address. In this case you will have to send a new application.
