Semesterticket
Each student in Schweinfurt gets the semester ticket!
All students of the THWS Schweinfurt automatically receive the semester ticket after having registered or re-registered.
Only if all students participate in joint financing can the ticket price be reduced to an acceptable minimum for everyone. This means that the agreement is binding for all students, including those who do not want or can use the semester ticket (e.g. during a stay abroad or an internship outside Schweinfurt). Guest students and severly disabled persons, as far as they are entitled to free transport, are excepted from that agreement.
As of summer semester 2025: €44.00per semester
When registering or re-registering, each student pays €44.00 extra in addition to the semester fee for the Schweinfurt semester ticket. When registering or re-registering, the amount for the semester ticket will be payed to the university and thus a semester ticket will be bought automatically.
You need your THWS card (student ID card)
The student ID card (= the personalized THWS card with photo) counts as ticket for busses in Schweinfurt; the card has to be validated accordingly. During validation a corresponding note is printed on the THWS card. This print designates the THWS card as a ticket for the area of the Stadtwerke Schweinfurt GmbH. Without the imprint the THWS card is not a valid ticket! The authorization is not transferable.
The validity date printed on the card must not be exceeded. The semester ticket entitles the holder to any number of journeys on all lines and in all vehicles of Stadtwerke Schweinfurt. On the website of Stadtwerke Schweinfurt you can find detailed information about all bus routes and the individual timetables.
The Schweinfurt semester ticket is not valid in the city and district of Würzburg and also not on train connections (DB Regio or Erfurt Bahn trains).
The semester ticket is not available for free sale and is not transferable. It is not permitted to take additional persons aged 6 and over on board free of charge. Das bayerische Ermäßigungsticket für Studierende ist da!
Students who are studying in Schweinfurt can have the amount paid for their semester tickets deducted on a pro rata basis (1/6 of the solidarity contribution paid for the semester ticket per month) from the price of the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass. Students studying in Schweinfurt currently pay €44.00 for their semester tickets. The €7.33 they have already paid as their monthly solidarity contribution for the semester ticket will be deducted from the €38.00 for the discounted DTicket, which means that they will only have to pay €30.67 per month for the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass (as of: summer semester 2025).

Students who are studying in Schweinfurt can buy the discounted version of the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass from the NVM public transport provider.
The NVM sells the “Deutschlandticket” public transport pass, which is valid on local and regional public transport throughout Germany, for partners in the Main-Franconia region together with the APG and the Stadtwerke Schweinfurt municipal utilities company. The income from the ticket sales will go to the public transport providers in the Main-Franconia region.
